Asian Tuna Steaks

Hey, Whiskers!
Tuna has garnered many discussions over my childhood with regards to mercury and such so make sure to check that for your body, and the source where the tuna is coming from is good for you. Being a big tuna fan when we moved and saw that frozen tuna steaks were available I have tried many different marinades, this is one of our favorites, and I will be sure to share more soon. I love the simplicity of great flavor in one bowl and most of the work is being done while it marinades. I cook the steaks completely through as my family and I don't like the texture of seared tuna, but try it out at different temperatures to find your favorite. Serve this with rice ,bok choy or even just on its own.
Until next time keep whisking up love and happiness
Sam

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 albacore tuna steaks
  • 2 cloves garlic, grated
  • 2 Tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsps ginger
  • 2 Tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 scallion, chopped

DIRECTIONS

  1. Mix all ingredients except the tuna steaks together in a medium bowl
  2. Rinse the tuna steak with water, pat dry and season with salt and pepper on both sides
  3. Add tuna steak to marinade, turning once or twice with tongs to coat all sides
  4. Marinate for about 30 minutes in the refrigerator, turning once (TIP: don't marinate too long or the acid in the lemon juice will start to "cook" the fish)
  5. Heat your grill to medium-high heat and oil the grates
  6. Grill tuna steak for 3 minutes on each side and serve.
